Our annual "Fireworks with Five Star Cellars" event is a huge hit! This four-day tasting features some of our favorite Walla Walla wines from Five Star Cellars, with the highlight being the La Conner Fourth of July Fireworks Show on Monday, July 4th (dusk). We have one of the best viewing locations along the Swinomish Channel, so enjoy our large wine deck, have a glass/bottle of Five Star wine (no corkage fee!) and enjoy the show! One of the most popular (both for exceptional wine and good company) in Lake Chelan is Hard Row to Hoe winery, a special location to sit, sip and enjoy the sweeping views of this special Washington appellation. The July "Taste of Walla Walla" dinner cruise will feature owner/winemakers from Kontos Cellars, Stephenson Winery, & Skylite Cellars on Saturday, July 30th. This is a fully catered dinner cruise with wine, appetizers and dessert included. The voyage will take us northbound to the mystical Mermaid Rocks and the Cone Islands, venturing on to Toehead Pass and Obstruction Pass off of Orcas Island, continuing onward to Thatcher Pass, Lopez Spit, Decatur Island and Lopez Pass, and the Marine Sanctuary off of Bird Rocks - then homeward bound. This is a fantastic scenic cruise abundant with eagles, seals, and spectacular scenery. A chartered bus will pick you up at Hellams Vineyard in La Conner at 5 p.m. (please check in to the shop no later than 4:15 p.m.) We'll then head over to the Mystic Sea, a 100' boat based out of Anacortes at Cap Sante Marina, board and depart at 6 p.m. The boat will return to dock at 9 p.m., and you'll then be chartered back to La Conner. All three winemakers will be pouring at the shop from 1 - 4 p.m. Cost is $145 per person; $135 for club members (+ tax). RSVP is required by calling the shop at 360.466.1758. We're really looking forward to hosting Wade Wolfe from Thurston Wolfe winery during the annual La Conner Lighted Boat Parade! Dr. Wolfe produces wonderfully crafted wines from his winery in Prosser, using grapes that he's done a lot of research on throughout his winemaking career. Working with the late Walter Clore, he knows what it takes in the vineyard to produce outstanding wines year after year... we invite you to taste through an exciting line up of wines including some that he'll bring from the winery... the boat parade usually begins around 6 p.m. and is put on by the Swinomish Yacht Club. Chateau Ste. Michelle launched the Raise A Glass, Fund a Scholarship program in 2008 and has raised $300,000 for Washington State University and other Northwest universities offering grape growing and winemaking degrees. The money helps fund scholarships, research, faculty and equipment. This tasting will feature some rare selections from Chateau Ste. Michelle with a portion of the proceeds helping towards educational opportunities for the viticulturists and winemakers of tomorrow!
